I Hate Bob Dylan

I bought Live at the Gaslight 1962 as soon as it was available in Starbucks. Then I bought the No Direction Home soundtrack set as soon as it came out. I have been listening to nothing else in my car the whole time, except for the times when my wife insists on listening to one of her CD’s of Cantonese ballads. Last Sunday, the whole family was about to go somewhere. I got in the car before my wife and got Mr. Dylan on the CD player before my wife could ask for her Chinese music.

My oldest son Andrew, age 12, announced, “I hate Bob Dylan.”

My wife, who doesn’t necessarily like her age to be announced, shouted “I hate Bob Dylan too.”

My son Michael, age 10, chimed in, “Me too…”

My "kids" are now 21 and 24, and they love Bob Dylan's music. They hated it when they were 7 and 10, but I played it in the car anyway.

I'm 20 years old and I demand Bob Dylan in the car from my parents.

Not that they necessarily object, like my younger sister and older brother...

but 3 beats 2 any day.

bob dylan is the most overated over celebrated musical poet that ever lived. he always sings like he is in pain and constapated. i hate bob dylan soo much whenever i hear his music it makes me want to stab my own ear drums to escape the madness. if you like bob dylan you are the definition of an absolute and a sheep that follows the rest of the world blindly with no sense of direction or dicearnable taste.kill your self and save the world the pain of your noise polution.

Well, God is in heaven
And we all want what's his
But power and greed and corruptible seed
Seem to be all that there is
I'm gazing out the window
Of the St. James Hotel
And I know no one can sing the blues
Like Blind Willie McTell

I agree with the sheep statement. Whenever anyone tells me they like Bob Dylan I actually think - 'f*ck. Another person who is not only deaf to harmony but who has this idea of Dylan single-handedly causing a revolution of some sort'. He does croak away, lurching through predictable tunes and his obvious sense of smugness brought on by thousands of people trying to upgrade their sixtiesness (I was there!) but taking the 'I love Dylan - and you have to if you want to say you were part of it' route straight up his backside, only makes him even more unbearable. I have tried but he really does just sound like a total pile of pants to me. I would be a lot more indifferent to the whole thing if it wasn't for the phenomenon of the most boring, uncreative personalities I've met always 'loving' Bob Dylan. I agree with the earlier comment, I actually find him painful to listen to. It feels like I'm being smothered by a smelly, itchy old pullover. Thanks for reading. ;)

completely worthless and over-hyped, but seems to think that every word he croaks is golden. he also insulted Led Zeppelin which is unforgivable

My wife hates bob dylan, so if i make a mix with him on it, she always changes it when he comes on. my son is only 2....so yeah. I'm not sure why dislikes him because she likes artists inspired by him and artists associated with him but not him. lol
